Key Bible Verses: Romans 6:14, 1 Corinthians 10:12-13, James 4:7

Although Christians are aware of the word many young people may well be unaware of its meaning or the purpose of avoiding it. As a result it is important to examine this topic in a light-hearted way to give way for later discussion and an examination of the Biblical perspective. This session brings with it an opportunity to show the real challenge leaders also face in tackling temptation through personal testimony without being drawn into difficult or embarrassing conversation. With proper preparation and careful supervision this meeting could help both young Christians struggling with sin and non believers seeking advice about sensitive issues. Big Questions 3: What is the plan for my life?

Key themes: Salvation, Purpose, Decisions

Keywords: Big questions, Purpose, Heaven

Key Bible Verses: Acts 9:1-19, Psalm 121

This is a very important question for teenagers as they change physically, as their horizons alter and as decisions over their own future are increasingly demanded of them. For some this is long overdue and desired, for others an unwelcome shake-up. Added into this caustic mix, the issue of life after death and a call to follow Jesus could seem untimely if handled without due diligence. However, it is very important to encourage young people to make active decisions on these issues, rather than letting them simply drift through life and try to ignore them.

Meeting aims:
• To discover what plans people already have for their lives. • To see whether following Jesus is an integral part of that, an additional extra or of no concern whatsoever. • To see what promises God makes about guidance for our future. • To consider whether that is something welcome, unnecessary or even threatening and explore why that is the case.

Keywords: Mission, evangelism, friendship, three stories

Key Bible Verses: John 4:1-30, John 15:26-27

The concept of evangelism often has a lot of negative connotations. It conjures up images of someone on a street corner, shouting through a megaphone. Christians often (wrongly) get the idea that you need to be a super-confident preacher to be an evangelist. This Core session presents the idea of ‘three-story’ evangelism – an approach to evangelism which is achievable for anyone.

Through it, we aim to communicate Jesus’ promise to give us life to the full and the truth the Jesus is the only way to know God, which is our ultimate purpose. Finally, we investigate God’s purpose to renew the whole of creation and begin to ask questions about what it might mean for us to be a part of that mission.

Keywords: Evangelism, story,

Key Bible Verses: Matthew 28:16-20, Romans 3:21-25

This session concludes the three part series on evangelism. In this session we’ll look at the most important, world-changing story of all: God’s story. At the heart of Christianity is the story of Jesus and His love and grace. Being an expert in telling our story is great, showing love and attention to other people’s stories is really important, but ultimately it’s God’s story that will change lives. So, this session unpacks the key points of the Gospel and also how we can communicate it to other people in ways which are memorable and relevant.

In this session, we’ll focus on the importance of our own story: why it’s powerful and how best to share it. We’ll also touch on the importance of prayer when it comes to sharing our faith.

Evangelism 2: Their Story

Key themes: Salvation

Keywords: Evangelism, testimony,

Key Bible Verses: Please see PDF.

Too often Christians think Evangelism is about us talking and them listening. But when we look at Jesus’ example, He shows a deep interest in the people He interacts with. He values them and listens as well as talking. If we’re to be really effective at evangelism we also need to listen as well as we speak. In this session we’ll be focussing on how we can listen and engage well with our friends’ stories, ultimately showing them, in our actions as well as our words, that God loves them.
